Wilma Clare Anne Thompson, 85, of Mt. Savage, MD passed away Monday, February 5, 2024.

Born March 13, 1938, to the late George William and Laverna May (Hutzell) Hook. She was preceded by her husband, Vincent M. Thompson (2014); Brother, John Hook; Sister, Beulah Pfister.

Mrs. Thompson graduated from Mt. Savage High School in 1956, and from Frostburg University in 1960 with her Bachelors and in 1965 with a Masters. She worked part-time for G.C. Murphy and the Allegany County Board of Education as a Teacher at Bruce High and Braddock Middle School for 31 years before retirement. 

Wilma belonged to Mt. Savage Methodist Church, Allegany Historical Society, Mt. Savage Historical Society, Queen City Glass Club, Soroptimist of Frostburg, Allegany County Retired Teachers, Re Temple #118 Daughters of the Nile and Red Hat Travelers.

Wilma was married to Vince for 43 years.  Together they traveled to all fifty states and 18 foreign countries.  They visited auctions and flea markets in search of antiques.  They also setup at flea markets and had a consignment shop in PA.  They both enjoyed life! 

Surviving is her loving niece who was like her daughter, Sharon Witt and husband Donnie; niece, Bonnie Snook and husband Tom; nephew, Jeff Pfister and wife Linda; two very special great niece and nephews, Julie Jones and husband Kevin, Tucker Witt and wife Linda; great nephew, Bill Snook and wife Adele, Patrick Snook and wife Ali; A special great great nephew, Parker Jones, who brought much pleasure; great great nieces, Abby Snook, Natalie Snook, Wren & Eleanor Snook, Megan Snook; great great nephews, Grayson Jones, Reid Witt; a special great great niece, Emersyn, who lives nearby.

Family and friends will be received at Durst Funeral Home, Frostburg, on Saturday, February 10, 2024 from 2 to 4 pm. Funeral services will follow at 4 pm with Rev. George Harpold officiating.  

Interment will be in Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Flintstone, MD, at a later date.
