William Footen

William Joseph “Footie” Footen, 65, of Frostburg, passed away on Friday, September 11, 2015, at his residence after a short & valiant battle with cancer.

Born on December 22, 1949, in Frostburg to Delores R. (Jeffries) Footen and the late William P. Footen.

William was a graduate of St. Michaels and in the 1967 class of Beall High School, also attending La Salle.  He held employment with Footen Home Improvement, Big Lots and Walmart Associates.  Billy enjoyed his gardening, sharing the produce he grew and riding his wheelchair through town.  He was also an avid woodworker and belonged to the Carpenters Local 1024.  Billy was a caretaker for his mother and continued working even after losing his second leg.

In addition to his mother, Delores Footen, his is survived by his daughter, Kerri Footen; granddaughters, Carlie and Addisen; grandson, Javas; brother, Bob Footen; sister, Kathy Winebrenner; special niece Tammy Winebrenner-Bittinger and husband Rodney; great nephews, Joshua and Daniel.

In accordance with his wishes Billy is to be cremated.

Family and friends will be received at Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Ave, Frostburg, MD, on Saturday, September 19, 2015 at 11 am for the memorial service with Father Doug Kenny officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to, Durst Funeral Home, to help offset funeral expenses.
