Walker Grose
November 21, 1935 — April 5, 2016
Walker D. “Blue” Grose, 80, of Frostburg, passed away on April 5, 2016, at the WMHS Regional Medical Center.
Born November 21, 1935, in Waynesboro, VA., Augusta County, he was the son of the late Wilbur Hunter and Merrie Cleo Fulver Grose. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Mary C. “Katie” Grose, November 2015; brother, Wilbur Hunter Grose Jr.; sisters, Margaret Ellen Mason and Merrie J. Schaidt.
Walker graduated from Beall High School in 1954 while also serving as a Navy Veteran from 1952 – 1958, he was called to active duty from 1954 -1958. He retired from the Maryland State and City of Frostburg Police Depts. Blue was a member of the Frostburg Moose #348, Farrady Post #24 American Legion and Old Rail Post #6025 Mount Savage VFW.
Surviving are his daughters, Cindy Mannick of Eckhart, MD, Cathy Stamos and husband Phil of Silver Spring, MD; stepchildren, James Keister, Jr. of Barton, MD, Rae Keister and wife Tammy of Thomasville, NC, Darrell Keister and wife Tracy of Rawlings, MD; eleven grandchildren, Jennifer Windel, Joshua Blubaugh, Kayla Blubaugh, Peter Stamos, Steven Stamos, Michael Stamos, Tisa Bakirov, Misty Dearlove, Kristina Pressley and husband Alex, Jessica Spataro, Savanna Keister; six great grandchildren, Austin Raynor, Alison Miller, Brielle Windle, Lennon Windle, Aleigha Inskeep and Kallista Pressley; a sister, Patricia N. Sears of Montgomery, Ala; numerous nieces and nephews and very special pets, Hanna and Leo.
Family and friends will be received at Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Avenue, Frostburg, on Friday, April 8, 2016, from 11 am to 1 pm.
Services will follow the visitation at 1pm with Rev. George Harpold officiating.
Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Dana Robertson, Royce Douty, Guy Griffith, Irvin Buskirk, Kevin Groves and Dave Pennington.
Military honors will be provided by, Farrady Post #24 American Legion Honor Guard
