Virginia Lee Miller, 98, passed away on Tuesday, October 15, 2019, at Egle Nursing Home.
Born on October 15, 1921, in Eckhart, she was the daughter of the late David and Sarah Alice (Porter) Kreitzburg.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Albert “Ab” Miller; sisters, Hazel Miller and Vivian Bone; brothers, Bill Kreitzburg and John Kreitzburg; and daughter-in-law, Cathie Miller.
Virginia was a lifetime member of the First Congregational Church where she sang in the choir for fifty years. She enjoyed painting and worked on ceramics at her son’s house. She loved to garden and shared the fruits of her labor with the other residents of the Frostburg Heights.
Virginia formerly worked as a house monitor at Frostburg State College and was a Willetts Travel Service tour guide. This was after time spent at the Celanese, Stoops Restaurant, the Maplehurst and H.R.D.C. where she helped in the beginning of the meals for senior citizen program. She dropped out of school at the age of 16 to run the family gas station; however, she received her diploma in 1974, forty-eight years after she left school to help run the family business. It was at this location that she met her future husband Ab, when he frequently stopped for gas on his way to work at the Celanese.
Surviving are sons, Albert Miller, Jr, and friend, Sandy Miller, Frostburg, James Lee Miller and wife Alana, Frostburg, and Martin Miller and wife Kathy, Lonaconing; grandchildren, Duane Miller, Devin Miller, Brian Miller, Carla Standbridge, Amy Duncan, Alex Brant, Angie Frazee, Jason George and Gina Fox; numerous great and great-great grandchildren.
Family and friends will be received at Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Ave, Frostburg, MD, on Friday, October 18, 2091, from 5-8 pm.
Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, October 19, 2019, at 11 am with Rev. Joe Penick officiating.
Interment will follow in Frostburg Memorial Park.
