Virginia C. (Layman) DeWitt
65, of Frostburg, died Thursday, December 26, 2013 surrounded by family at Frostburg Village Nursing Care Center after a long illness.
Born on April 11, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Blaine and Mary Layman of Finzel. She was also preceded in death by her brother Michael Layman.
Virginia is survived by her husband, Chester F. DeWitt, of Cumberland; three sisters, Angela Llewellyn and husband George, Teresa Winner Bowen, of Frostburg, and Margaret Stewart of Cumberland; two brothers, Anthony Layman and wife Alma of Finzel and Bernard Layman of Glen Burnie; and nineteen nieces and nephews.
After graduation from Beall High School in 1966, Virginia moved to Alexandria, Va. and was a legal secretary for the Internal Revenue Service in Washington, DC. She married Chester in 1969 and later they built their home near Hillsboro, Virginia. She also worked in the Financial Office of Mitre Corporation in McLean, Virginia until 1989.
