Vincent Andrew Wolodkin , 56, of Frostburg, died peacefully on September 17, 2020 at Johns Hopkins hospital in Baltimore with his wife and oldest son at his side. Andy fought a tough battle since his cancer was diagnosed in March, 2019.
Born in Bellflower, CA, on July 2, 1964, Andy was the son of Vicki Miller of Carlos, MD, and Vern and Diana Wolodkin of Frostproof, FL. The family moved to Cumberland and eventually settled in Frostburg where Andy attended Frost elementary school and Beall junior high. He was a 1982 graduate of Beall high school and went on to earn his degree in electrical engineering at WVU.
After graduating, Andy moved to Laurel, MD, and began his career as a Special Project Engineer with the Federal Communications Commission in Washington DC. From there, he went on to work for Digital Ink, in Arlington, VA, and was instrumental in launching the Washington Post online. After that, he enjoyed working at Power Navigator, first in Washington, DC, and later when he and his good friend Ernie Ellingson moved the company to Columbia MD. In 2001, Andy had the opportunity to return to Western MD and his hometown of Frostburg. He retired last year as the Database Administrator at Frostburg State University.
Andy and his wife Jeannie (Rollins) met on the Memorial Day weekend of 1989 and were married on April 21, 1990 in Cumberland. Despite his career successes, Andy’s greatest accomplishments in life were his six children, his pride and joy. He is survived by his five sons, Zachary and wife Kelsy of Parkville, MD. Peter of Frostburg. Daniel and girlfriend Emily Parrell of Winston-Salem, NC. Timothy and fiancé Abby Burdock, Frostburg. And Samuel and girlfriend Courtney Yeager, Frostburg. And his daughter, Mary Grace Wolodkin, Frostburg. Andy is also survived by his earliest partners in crime, his two brothers, Greg Wolodkin of Sutton MA and Mark Wolodkin of Ridgeley WV. He also leaves behind a large extended family of brothers and sisters in law, nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Andy truly loved his family above all else. He was predeceased by His grandparents, Peter and Alberta Wolodkin and Harry and Clara Gill, his stepfather, Ray Miller, and his father and mother in law, Pete and Betty Rollins.
The family would like to thank Dr. Mark Markowski and Andy’s entire team at Johns Hopkins for, not only their excellent healthcare, but for the compassion and humor in their treatment of Andy.
