Thomas Richards

Thomas Richards, 89, of Frostburg, passed away on September 11, 2024, surrounded by loved ones. He was born in Carlos on February 4, 1935, to the late Wilbert and Goldie (Winters) Richards.

Tom was lucky in that he lived a long life. He graduated from Beall High School in1953 and served in the U.S. Army. In his early years, he enjoyed a career in minor and professional baseball of which he had many fond memories. He also worked many years for PPG and in construction. Along with his love of the "game", he loved his family and watching wildlife. He is loved and will be missed by all that knew him.

Tom is preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Jean (Brookley); brothers Jack, Wilbert, Raymond and George; sister Goldie Lee Speir; and great-granddaughter, Maeve Elizabeth Adams.

Surviving are his brothers David (Sheila) and Donald (Dot) Richards; his children, Pam Sweitzer and husband George, Cheryl Richards, Lisa Adams and husband John, Leland Richards and wife Laura. He is survived also by his grandsons, Kris Sweitzer and wife Sara; Jonathan Adams and wife Mara, Grant Adams and wife Maria, and Ryan Adams, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren Isaac, Iyla and Isabel Sweitzer.

Family and friends will be received at Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Ave, Frostburg on Tuesday, September 17th, from 12 to 1 PM. A funeral service will follow at 1 PM with Rev. George Harold officiating. Internment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park following the service.
