Thomas Francis Chabot, 90, of Eckhart Maryland passed away late Thursday, May 9th at home. Tom was born October 6, 1928, the son of Edward and Christine Hager (Shea) Chabot.
He attended Beall High School and after working for his father’s construction company, he served in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper. Following his discharge, he worked for Hercules Corporation at Allegany Ballistics Laboratory for more than 35 years. Upon retirement, Tom again worked in the 'craft' construction field for several years. A man with integrity and a deep sense of responsibility, Tom was always working on a project for a family member, friend, colleague or at home. As a member of the American Legion Post 24 and Knights of Columbus #1442 in Frostburg, he often volunteered to serve others.
It was clear to all who knew him that he worked hard and loved his family even more. Tom came from a large family and lived his entire life in Eckhart. He truly enjoyed the outdoors, camping, swimming and playing along with his children and grandchildren at the ocean. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He is survived by his wife, Dolores Ileana (Bean) Chabot and five daughters and their husbands Cindy Powers (Larry), Debbie Evans (Gary), Cathy, Natalie (Michael Spears) and Michele Cosner (Bryan); one sister Patricia (Chabot) Tase; grandchildren Kevin Hill, Matthew Hill, Sierra Nixon, Stacey (Evans) Fletcher, Shaun Evans, and Farren Smith; great-grandchildren Landon Fletcher, Lyla Fletcher, Bennett Hill, Summer Hill and Thomas Hill.
He was preceded in death by 14 siblings, Edward, James, Catherine, Mary, Hilda, Mercedes, Rita, Agnes, Lawrence, Leo, Alma, Bernard, Leonard, Richard.
In lieu of flowers, consider making a donation in his name to one of Thomas Chabot's favored charities: Alzheimer's Association, the Divine Mercy Parish at St. Michaels, or the American Heart Association.
A Funeral Mass will be held at Divine Mercy Parish St. Michael’s Catholic Church on Saturday, May 18, 2019, at 11 am with Father Ed Hendricks serving as celebrant.
