Thomas Bridges

Thomas Dale Bridges, 67, passed away on Saturday, March 19, 2022, peacefully at home surrounded by his loved ones after a long battle with cancer.

Born on November 9, 1954, in Barrelville, MD. He was the son of the late Cecil William Bridges and Verna (Collins) Bridges. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth R. Bridges and a sister, Alice Jean (Bridges) Minnick.

Tom was a graduate of Mt. Savage High School class of 1972. After high school he went on to Allegany College where he studied forestry. He worked for Willets Drug Company and for the Local nursing home on Winifred Road as a maintenance man, until he retired over 4 years ago. Tom loved the outdoors where he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and berry picking but most of all just being in the woods observing nature, which he inherited from his father.

Tom is survived by his partner, Gloria Cartwright, who lovingly cared for him during his illness along with his stepson, Chris Hinkle. Also surviving are his stepsons, Jeremy Hinkle and wife Tara, Daniel Hinkle and wife Becky; brothers, Francis A. Bridges, Earl L. Bridges and wife Betty, David R. Bridges and wife Linda; sister, Wanda L. O’Baker; six step-grandchildren, Natalie Hinkle, Chloe Hinkle, Heinrich Hinkle, Lars Hinkle, Ryker Hinkle, Paris Nolan; two step-great grandchildren, Delan Bridges and Luna Hinkle. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and his special granddaughter Natalie Star, who he loved spending time with.

He will be greatly missed by his loving family and his lifelong friends and neighbors, Jerry Booth, Rick Booth, Junior Booth, Tim Fink, Danny and Ann Wilburn and many other friends.

Tom was cremated in accordance with his wishes.

A celebration will be held at a later date.
