Stanley L. Taylor

88, of Midlothian, passed away peacefully at his residence on Saturday, November 16, 2013.

Born January 14, 1925 in Midlothian to Airey Whitehead and Minnie (Taylor) Whitehead. He is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Donald Whitehead, William Whitehead and James Whitehead and a granddaughter, Tonia Vescovi.

Mr. Taylor was a 62 years member with the United Brotherhood of Carpenters Joiner and Millwrights, having served as secretary and treasurer for many years. He was a WWII Army Veteran; receiving the Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe. Receiving citations and decorations for American Theater Ribbon, European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon, and the WWII Victory Ribbon.

Stanley was a member of Trinity Assembly of God Church, Midlothian serving as Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and played drums in the Praise and Worship Band of the church. He spent many years in visitation and serving communion for the sick and shut-in’s spreading the word of Jesus. He enjoyed playing gospel music and hymns on his organ at home.

Surviving are his wife of 69 years, Peggy R. (Atkinson) Taylor; siblings, Sandra Baer, Ontario, CA, Diana Baker and husband David, Carpendale, WV, Ruth Ellen Snyder and husband John, Mocksville, NC, Roxann Eyraud and husband Terry, Buckeye, AZ, Jack Allan Taylor and wife Laura, Frostburg, and Dawn Eisentrout and husband Rod, Frostburg; eleven grandchildren, Dean Rhodes, Michael Vescovi, David Baker, Lesley Baker, Chad Baker, Nikki Harwood, Carli Snyder, Noah Eyraud, Eliza Taylor, John Taylor, and Brandon Eisentrout; and eleven great grandchildren.  Also surviving are one sister, Joan Whitehead Wilson, Myrtle Beach and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the hospice workers, especially the nurses, Joan Adams and Jeannie VanFleet; as well as Sam and Fred Walker.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made in Stanley’s honor to Trinity Assembly of God Church or Hospice of Allegany County.
