Sherrie L. Stairs

Sherrie L. (Johnson) Stairs, 62 years old, of Meyersdale, PA, sadly passed away on November 10, 2022, at home after her short battle with cancer, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on June 23, 1960, to Robert E. Johnson and Peggy L. (Porter) Martin.

She is preceded in death by her step mom, Carolyn (Powers) Johnson and her half-sister, Sissy Johnson. 

Sherrie was a member of the Frostburg Seventh-day Adventist Church. She was a 1978 graduate of Fort Hill High School, Cumberland and immediately began her lifelong passion as a florist with Nature’s Expressions, Cumberland, and years later with Pharmacare Floral (formerly Ren Roy’s flower shop). She also was co-owner/partner of Bills Lumber in Meyersdale, with her husband, Mark, brother Bill & sister-in law Jan Stairs.  She worked as a payroll secretary, safety consultant and event organizer. Sherrie also was office secretary for her husband’s business, Stairs Trucking. Currently she was employed with Closetmaid, Grantsville, as a product packer and at Kessel Lumber Products, Inc. Keyser, WV as a safety consultant.

Surviving are her loving Husband, Mark R. Stairs of 42 years; daughter, Melodie M. Stairs; son, Chad N. Stairs; grandchildren, Ava & Jaxson Stairs; her father, Robert Johnson Sr., mother Peggy Martin and partner Daphne Lee; brother, Rob Johnson and wife Robin; step-sister, Becky (Powers) Schmidt and husband Jeff; sister, Melissa (Johnson) Boyer and husband Keith; half-brother, Bobby Johnson Jr. as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

Sherrie had a passion for flower arranging, working in her gardens and photography.  Going for nature walks, cooking, arranging & organizing, spending time on the front porch swing with a cup of coffee and motorcycle riding were also some of her favorites. She loved spending quiet time just being at her country home that her & husband, Mark built while they were married. Even more than all these things, Sherrie loved spending time with her family.
