Sharon Ann Stakem

Sharon Ann (Hersick) Stakem, 71, of Midlothian, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 22, 2022.

 

Born on February 11, 1951 in Frostburg, MD and was the daughter of the late Estella (Robertson) and John Hersick. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a grandson, Lucas Stakem and brother-in-law, Charles “Chas” Green.

 

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Patrick William Stakem; sons, Keith (Krista) Stakem of Grantsville, Jason (Jill) Stakem of Frostburg; six grandchildren, Ashlyn Stakem and Carder Stakem of Grantsville, Sidney Kiser of Berlin, MD, Zoe Stakem, Charlie Elizabeth Stakem, and Billie Estelle Stakem of Frostburg; sister, Donna Green of Manassas, VA, and many nieces and nephews.

 

Sharon was a 1969 graduate of Beall High School in Frostburg. Sharon began working at Berkowitz Sewing Factory right out of High School and in 1970 began working at Frostburg State University Residence Life Office until retirement in 1998. Not ready to totally retire, she worked at Frostburg Nursing and Rehab Center as Assistant Activity Director in the Alzheimer’s unit, and finally at St. Joseph Church office for 8 years and then fully retired in 2012. She and her husband began volunteering at the George’s Creek Food Pantry and the Summer Lunch Box Program

 

She enjoyed playing music at Keyboard World, quilting with the Cover-Up Girls, Quilters at the Frostburg Senior Center and visiting the nursing homes and homebound people.

 

Sharon and Pat in their younger years enjoyed bowling at Sherwood Lanes. The most special times were taking their children and grandchildren to the beach annually. Both were very faithful and attended Trinity Assembly of God Church in Midlothian.

 

Family and friends will be received at Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Avenue, Frostburg, MD on Wednesday, October 26, 2022 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm followed by a Funeral Service at 7:00 with Pastor Kristin Beeman and Pastor Tom Morgan. A private inurnment with family will take place at a later date in St. Joseph Cemetery, Midland, MD.
