Ruth Anne Stewart, 91, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 12, 2020, at Egle Nursing Home surrounded by her children Tim, Susie and Anne.
Born on August 27, 1928, in Frostburg, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Dorothy (Porter) Cosgrove.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Thomas W. Stewart in 1973.
Ruth was employed as a florist and retired as an Instructional Assistant at the Career Center. She was a member of Divine Mercy Parish, a charter member of the Frostburg Garden Club, a charter member of the Maplehurst Country Club and various card playing clubs.
An avid gardener, she loved to golf, read, and visit the beach. She volunteered with Meals on Wheels for 25 years and loved to help decorate the altar at the church on holidays.
Above all, she loved her family. She was the rock and anchor of all the family activities.
Surviving are son, Tim Stewart and wife Peggy; daughters, Susie Workman and husband Craig and Anne Drechsler and husband Vic; grandchildren, Bart Stewart and wife Erica, Lindsay Winthers and husband Justin, Trey Stewart and Megan, Amie Armstrong and husband Corey, Abbey Herman and husband Jared, Nathan Workman and wife Ashli, Andrew Drechsler and wife Taren and Allie Quinlan and husband Ryan; 18 great-grandchildren and one on the way.
A Funeral Mass will be held at Divine Mercy Parish St. Michael’s Catholic Church on Saturday, February 15, 2020, at 10 am with Father Eric Gauchat, OFM Cap serving as celebrant. Family and friends will be received at the church one hour prior to the service.
Interment will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery.
The family would like to give special thanks to the nurses and staff at Egle Nursing Home and Dr. Sidhu.
