Roy Milton DeVore, 94, went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 24, 2023 surrounded by his family.
He was born on July 16 1928, in Grahamtown to the late Olive M. (Plummer) and Victor DeVore. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers; Harry Lee DeVore, William Victor DeVore, and grandson Victor Matthew DeVore.
Roy graduated from Beall High School and Frostburg State University with a Masters Degree in secondary education. He was a Korean War Veteran serving on the USS Juneau. Roy was a beloved teacher at Beall High School and taught at Keyser High School. He was co-owner of the Toll Gate Fruit Market in LaVale with his brother, Harry Lee, for many years.
Surviving are his wife of 69 years Mary Theresa (Manley) DeVore; children, Roy DeVore and wife Sharon, William DeVore and wife Sheri, Theresa and husband Terry Delaney, Dave DeVore and wife Debbie, Robert DeVore and wife Nancy and Mike DeVore and wife Karen; 14 grandchildren, Shawna Shipe and husband Nathan, Janelle Dutery and husband Mike, Alyse DeVore, Ashley Hoye and husband Josh, Jonathan Lanni, Colin and wife Paloma, Noah DeVore, Jennifer Rice and husband Eugene, Roy DeVore and wife Keleigh, Laura Wilson and husband Jordan, Garrett DeVore and Megan Payne, Shelby Hutcheson and husband Tyler, Ethan DeVore and wife Tara, Trevor DeVore and wife Jessie and 19 great grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass will be held at Divine Mercy Parish, 44 E. Main Street, Frostburg, MD on Friday, March 31, 2023, at 11:00 A.M. with Fr. Doug Kenney officiating. Family and friends will be received one hour prior.
Military Honors will be accorded following Mass.
The family would like to invite friends for a Celebration of Roy's wonderful life on July 29th at The Back Farm on Piney Run. More details to follow.
The family would like to express our gratitude to Goodwill Retirement Community for the great care and love they gave to our father, and continue to give to our mother. Also, thanks to all the wonderful caregivers that have been supportive throughout his last years.
