Rose Burger

Rose Acre (Lease) Burger, 102, of Hagerstown, passed away on Thursday, September 16, 2023.

Born on July 10, 1921 in Frostburg, MD. She was the daughter of Frank and Serafino Acre.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her brothers, Joseph S. Acre and wife Florence, Michael J. Acre; sister, Esther S. Wampler; husbands, William J Burger and Albert S. Lease.

Rose grew up in Frostburg and graduated from Beall High School in 1939. She went to work at the First National Bank in Cumberland and after that married to Albert S. Lease and moved to Hagerstown. She was employed by the Prior Publishing Company as secretary for 10 years and then went to work at Hagerstown Trust Co. where she became executive secretary and retired after 20 years. Her husband passed away on July 16, 1981 and in 1993 she moved to Florida where she met William Burger and was married for 15 wonderful years.

She was a member of St. Michael's the Archangel, Largo FL, Women's Guile's, K of C Auxiliary and the Daughter of the Nile in Tampa, FL before returning to Hagerstown where she was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Catholic Daughter's #273, K of C Shuffleboard League, Catholic War Veteran's, Catholic Golden Age, Brightwood Homemaker's, and Smart Seniors.

Rose is survived by her nephews, John J. Wampler, Terry and James Acre; step-daughter, Karen Sue Compher as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September20, 2023 from 4 P.M. to 6 P.M. at Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Ave, Frostburg MD.

Funeral Mass will be held at Divine Mercy Parish, Thursday, September 21, 2023 at 11 A.M.

Internment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park.

Rose Mary will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
