Robert Martin VanMeter, 84, of Ridgeley, WV, passed away on November 15, 2020 at Mountain City Center for Rehabilitation & Nursing.
Born on December 9, 1935 in Ridgeley, WV to the late Stanley and Goldie (Gaither) VanMeter.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Lila (Poling) VanMeter, brother, Darrell Stanley VanMeter, stepdaughter, Carla Folk, son-in-law, David Bolden and grandchildren Megan and Jacob Dennison.
Robert served as Sergeant in the United States Marines earning the Good Conduct Medal every year of service. He worked at Kelly Tires for 29 years and was a member of the Ridgeley American Legion Post 136, Ridgeley VFW Post 6452 and the Mountainside Marines #1071.
Surviving are his children, Debra Bolden, Tammy McKenzie and spouse Jane; Robin Anderson and husband Leslie, Tammy Dennison and husband Steve, Roger VanMeter and wife Rhonda, Stephanie Merrit and husband Craig, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-grand nieces and nephews, sister, Sylvia McCellan and sister-in-law Hazel Ketterman and Husband Curtis as well as his dog Shilo.
Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Garden. Military honors will be conducted by American Legion Post 13.
The family would like to thank the care givers and staff at Mountain City Center for their excellent care.
