Robert William Race

70, of Frostburg, passed away Saturday, January 30, 2016 at Country House in Cumberland.

Born December 14, 1945 in Frostburg to the late Percy E. and Bernice P. Race. He is preceded in death by his parents and wife, Joyce A. Race in 2014.

Bob retired from the Allegany County Roads Department working as a mechanic. He was a lifetime member of the Frostburg Volunteer Fire Department and a former instructor at Maryland Fire & Rescue Institute. Bob enjoyed riding his bicycle through the county and beyond. He also loved to walk and spent countless hours on the Rail Trail.

Surviving are daughter, Lorrie Race, Baltimore; son, John W. Race; two brothers, James Race and wife Carol, and Charles Race and wife Linda, all of Frostburg; numerous nieces and nephews and extended adopted family and friends.

Family and friends will be received at Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Avenue, Frostburg on Friday, February 5, 2016 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm.

Frostburg Volunteer Fire Dept. Company #16, will hold a memorial service at the funeral home on Friday, February 5th at 7:30 pm.

Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at 10:00 am with Mr. Victor Maconachy and Mr. Harry Foor officiating.

Interment will be held in Frostburg Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to the Frostburg Volunteer Fire Department.
