91, of LaVale passed away, Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at Frostburg Village Nursing Care Center.

Born November 19, 1922, in Barton MD, he is the son of the late James E. Symons and Clara E. (Poland) Symons.

Richard enjoyed mushroom and walnut hunting on his 125 acre farm in Barton where he also raised cattle. He was retired from Westvaco as a Trimmer operator, a member of the Barton Methodist Church, Westernport American Legion Post 155, VFW 6775 in McCoole. He is a US Army Veteran who served in Europe, the Battle of Bulge, and was awarded three battle stars.

Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Mary Alice (Johnston) Symons, son; Richard E. Symons, North Dakota, daughter; Alice Ellen Beeman and husband Jim, Barton, grandchildren; Jessica Rynee Beeman, Crystal Lynn Beeman, Richard J. William Symons, great grandchildren; Jay Cadwallader, and Emma May Galbraith.
