Ralph "Cubby" Baer

Ralph (Cubby) Junior Baer

83, of Frostburg, passed away on Thursday, May 7, 2015, at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.

Born December 5, 1931, he was the son of the late Ralph and Margaret (Orner) Baer.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by sisters, Carol (Baer) McKenzie and Anna Mae Hochard; and brother, Robert Baer.

Cubby was a member of the Greenville Lutheran Church, retired from the Kaiser Refractory after 28 years as a forklift operator and Coddington Lumber as a truck driver. He was a veteran of the Combat Engineers US Army serving in the Korean Conflict.

Surviving are his wife of 37 years, Wilda (Buskirk) Baer; sons, Ralph J. Baer III  “Jr” and wife Diana, Frostburg and William E. Bear “Gene”; stepson, Eddie L. Hitchins, Frostburg; granddaughter, Felicia Nicole Baer; step grandson, Thomas Lee Hitchins;; brother, Carl Baer, Frostburg; sister, Linda Arnold, Greenville, PA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received at Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Avenue, Frostburg, on, Friday, May 8, 2015 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm.

Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at 11:00 am with Pastor Ingrid Chenoweth officiating.

Interment will be in Greenville Lutheran Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be J.R. Baer, Gene Baer, Billy Smith, Shawn Smith, Jeff Smith, Brain Arnold, and honorary pallbearer, Frankie Walker.
