Paul Wiland

Paul Edward Wiland, 90, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 11, 2019, at Sterling Care at Frostburg Village.

Born on December 5, 1928, in New Germany, he was the son of the late Ralph and Lucy (Martin) Wiland.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Vera Catherine (Broadwater) Wiland; brothers, Norman Robert “Bob” Wiland and James Wiland; and sisters, Hazel Rounds and Pearl Wampler.

Paul was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Following his discharge from the military, he specialized in carpentry and owned his own company for fifteen years.

He was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church and was a member of the Frostburg Moose Lodge 348 where he had served as Governor.  He was a hardworking man and was an AWESOME Dad, Granddad and Great Granddad to all of his family.  He enjoyed gardening and loved his Fords.

Surviving are children, Dean Wiland of Wilmington NC, Juanita Bender and husband Bill, Debbie Gaumer and husband Don, Helen Drees and husband Ronnie, Dave Wiland and wife Cinda and Rickey Wiland and wife Betty all of Finzel; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; sisters, Helena Crowe and Shirley Perdew; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received at Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Ave, Frostburg, MD, on Monday, July 15, 2019, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm.

Funeral Services will be held at Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 29 Pocahontas Road, Frostburg, on Tuesday, July 16, 2019, at 11 am with Pastor Daniel Agnew officiating.

Interment will follow in Emmanuel United Methodist Cemetery.
