Norman Filsinger

Norman Donald Filsinger, 85, of Frostburg, passed away Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.

Born May 3, 1929, in Eckhart, to Herman Filsinger and Gladys (Pape) Filsinger. He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, James Filsinger and Carl Filsinger.

Mr. Filsinger was a member of the United Church of Christ, Frostburg and was retired as an Office Manager of 36 years from Charleton Brothers. He was a US Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict. Norman was a member of Big Savage and Piney Mountain Sportsman Club, Clarysville Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed golfing with the Grasshoppers Golf Club, duck pin bowling, fishing- nickname “Storman Norman” and hunting, and playing blitz card games with his family.

Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Lois (Nelson) Filsinger; a son, Keith D. Filsinger and wife Sandy, Eckhart; a daughter, Christa Friend and husband Steve, Vale Summit; three grandchildren, Eric Filsinger, Heather Filsinger, and Lexi Friend; one great grandchild, Brylee Fazenbaker; one sister, Vivian McKenzie, Lonaconing; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received at Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Avenue, Frostburg on Friday, December 5, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm.

Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at 11 am with Rev. Geroge Harpold and Pastor Caroline Pennick officiating.

Interment will be in Eckhart Cemetery.
