Nellie Whiteman

Nellie Ann Whiteman, 77, of Midlothian, passed away on January 16, 2024 surrounded by her husband and children.

Born on May 13, 1946, in Frostburg, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Ralph George Brain and Ruth Willetts Brain. She was also preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Shirley Ruth Brain.

A longtime resident of Midlothian, Nellie graduated from Beall High School, class of 1964. She and her husband Lloyd Glenn were married in 1965. For 25 years Nellie worked for the Board of Education of Allegany County in various positions including teachers' assistant and audio/visual technician.

She was a lifelong member of Trinity Assembly of God, Midlothian where she served in the choir, prayer groups, decorating, as Sunday School Department head, Sunday School teacher, as head of the Women's Ministry and as the founder of the Memorial Day Program at the Midlothian Honor Roll for over 10 years. Her faith was the center of her life.

Nellie is survived by her husband of 58 years, Lloyd Glenn Whiteman. Also surviving are her daughter, Tausha Ann Plate of Cleveland, Tennessee; granddaughters, Isabella Krecklow and husband Daniel, Katherine Henderson and husband Conner, Sophia Plate; her son, Glenn Ralph Whiteman of Statesboro, Georgia and wife Melissa; grandson, Tanner Whiteman and granddaughter, Emma Whiteman; her sisters, Julia Darlene Pepper of Orlando, FL, Verla Ruth Williams (husband Jess) of Midlothian, MD and Brenda Brain Neilson (husband Lloyd) of Frostburg, MD; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Nellie's pride and joy were her daughter, Tausha and her son Glenn. Her passion in life came from serving others in Christ-like love. Nurturing her family and her church family were how she led by example. Nellie was always serving others through praying, visiting, preparing food for those who were hurting, going on mission trips, serving the youth at FCA summer camp and volunteering with the summer lunch programs in Allegany County.

Nellie and her husband, Glenn, enjoyed years of traveling together. They traveled extensively throughout the US and Europe. They also went on missions trips to Ecuador, Jamaica and El Salvador.

A viewing for friends and family will be held at Trinity Assembly of God, Midlothian on Sunday, January 21, 2024 at 1 pm. A funeral service will follow at Trinity Assembly of God, Midlothian, on Sunday, January 21, 2024 at 3 pm, with Pastor Rob Culler officiating, assisted by Kristin Beeman.
