Nancy Duckworth

Nancy Jean (Johnson) Duckworth

of Cumberland, MD, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 1, 2019 at Cumberland Healthcare Center.

Born June 12, 1940, in Frostburg, MD, she was the daughter of the late James and Hazel (Layman) Johnson.  She was also preceded in death by her husband Floyd D. Duckworth; a brother, James Johnson; and a great grandchild, Jude Hutson.

Mrs. Duckworth was a care provider to the physically and mentally disabled for over 30 years.

She is survived by one son, David Harris and partner Maxine Shirley, Springfield, WV; two daughters, Tracy (Harris) Watkins, Cumberland, MD; Karen (Duckworth) McKenzie and husband Brent, LaVale, MD; three stepdaughters, Terry (Duckworth) Deffenbaugh and husband Eric, LaVale, MD; Pamela (Duckworth) Kyle and husband Bo, Keyser, WV; Sonya (Duckworth) Filer and husband Jim, Frostburg, MD; 5 grandchildren, Davey Harris and wife Leslie, Dana Harris, Robbie Harris and partner Brea, Zachary Watkins, Carly McKenzie; 6 step-grandchildren, Janelle (Hutson) Skipper and husband Nic, Joel Hutson and wife Jen, Michele (Linaburg) McGuire and husband Justin, Ricky Linaburg and wife Mandy, Amanda (Filer) Walker and husband Jeremy, and Jimmy Filer and wife Amanda; 19 great grandchildren/great step-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Annie Johnson; and several special nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

At Nancy’s request she will be cremated and no services are planned.

The family wishes to extend heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Cumberland Healthcare Center, and express gratitude for the exceptional, sensitive, and compassionate care to those who treated our mother as if she were family.
