Mildred S. DeWitt
87, passed away on Tuesday, May 02, 2017, at the Frostburg Village Nursing Care Center.
Born on July 21, 1929, on Meadow Mountain in Garrett County, she was the daughter of the late James B. and Annie B. (Buckel) O’Brien.
In addition to her parents, Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold P. DeWitt; siblings, Jimmie O’Brien, Carlton O’Brien, Harry O’Brien, Arthur O’Brien, Helen Bittinger, Bertha Keller, Blanch Brant and Mae Cooper.
Mrs. DeWitt retired from Bausch and Lomb in 1996 where she worked as an inspector. She loved to play bingo and was an avid fisherman. She enjoyed spending time with her family.
Surviving are son, Roger DeWitt, Cumberland; grandchildren, Sabrina DeWitt and wife Ruth, Cumberland, Tracy Wengerd and husband Josh, LaVale, and Megan Mertz and husband David, LaVale; great-grandchildren, twins, Camryn and Carson DeWitt, Logan Wengerd, Levi Wengerd and triplets, Owen, Reid and Kinley Wengerd; sister, Elizabeth Shaffer, Oakland; and brother, George O’Brien, Swanton.
Family and friends will be received at Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Avenue, Frostburg, MD, on Thursday, May 4, 2017, from 12 noon to 2 pm.
A Celebration of Life will follow at 2:00 pm with Pastor Brandon Hutzell officiating.
Interment will be in Garrett County Memorial Gardens in Oakland, MD.
