Mary "Mamie" Evans

Mary (Mamie) C. Evans, 96, of Ellicott City, formerly of Frostburg, passed away on Thursday, November 4, 2013 at her son’s residence.
Born March 6, 1917 in Frostburg to James G. Conway and Ida (Mason) Conway. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband James H. Evans, Sr.; two sons, James H. Evans, Jr. and Patrick C. Evans; three brothers and four sisters; she is the last of her immediate family.
Mamie was a member of St. Michaels Catholic Church, a charter member of Maplehurst Country Club, Farrady Unit 24 Ladies Auxiliary, and Ladies of the Elks 470. She formerly was employed at Edna Griffiths clothing store in Frostburg.
Surviving are one son, Edmund E. Evans and wife Connie, Ellicott City; daughter-in-law, Jennie Evans, Lonaconing; four grandchildren, James H. Evans III and wife Betsy, Lonaconing, Julie Wilt and husband Aaron, Lonaconing, Ashley E. Evans, Ellicott City, and Eric E. Evans and wife Laura, U.S. Air Force; and four great grandchildren.
Family and friends will be received at Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Avenue, Frostburg on Saturday, November 23, 2013 from 11 am to 1 pm.
A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, November 23, 2013 at 1 pm.
Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park.
