Mary Lee Winebrenner

September 4, 1945 — January 20, 2025

Mary Lee Winebrenner, 79, of Slabtown passed into the arm of Jesus on Monday, January 20, 2025 after a long courageous illness at home with her husband and sisters by her side.

Born on September 4, 1945 in Frostburg. She was the daughter of the late Howard "Huff" Hughes and Shirley C. Hughes; granddaughter of the late James and Mary Russell and the late Charles and Margaret Hughes.

Mary Lee was a 1963 graduate of Mt. Savage High School. She was employed at FSU as a Mimeograph Operator until 1965 when she married the love of her life and located for a short time in Baltimore then back to Slabtown. She was a member of Mount Savage Methodist Church and implemented the charter for the Classy Chassis Car Club being the first president of the club. She loved her 69 GTO. She was a homemaker, an excellent cook, gardener among many other things that she shared with her adoring husband, Tom, for almost 60 years. They were high school sweethearts.

Surviving are her husband, Tom; sisters, Betty Jane (Denny) Carder and Ruth Ann (Denny) Johnson; special sister in law, Sandy Lowery, who was dedicated to her care; as well as other sisters in law, brothers in law, nieces, nephews and many friends.

Mary Lee loved Tom and her family with her whole being and was always there to listen and help them in any way.

She will be greatly missed.

Special thanks to her hospice care and staff.

There will be no viewing. Graveside service will be held at Mount Savage Methodist Cemetery at 1:00 Friday, January 24, 2025 conducted by Chris Skidmore.
