Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Truly, 91, passed away on Thursday, August 6, 2015, at her Deep Creek Lake cottage.
Born on April 14, 1924, in Baltimore, MD, she was the daughter of the late Haven Francis and Mary (Holtschneider) DeWitt.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Graham Truly, in 1984, and her sister, Geraldine Lipscomb in 1995.
Betty was previously a school teacher, having taught at the Swanton and Kitzmiller Schools and retired from C&P Telephone in 1984, where she was an Engineering Assistant.
Surviving are her daughter, Joanne Lewis and husband Tom of Frostburg; grandchildren, Edward Lewis and wife Maria of Quinton, VA, Douglas Lewis of Belair, Lisa Lewis and husband Bob McLaughlin of Hudson, MA; great-grandchildren, Ashley McLaughlin, Thomas Lewis, Marie Lewis, Samantha McLaughlin, Megan Lewis and Anne Lewis; and brother, Franklin DeWitt.
