Mary Theresa DeVore, 92, went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 21, 2024 surrounded by her family.
She was born on September 15, 1931, in Midland and raised on Paradise Lane, to the late Laura McGann Manley and William P. Manley. She is reunited in death with her beloved husband of 69 years, Roy M. DeVore, who died on March 24, 2023. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her brothers William (Bubby) Manley and Francis Manley; sisters Connie Manley Quartucci and Ann Manley Young; and grandson Victor Matthew DeVore.
Mary graduated from Beall High School in 1949 and from Frostburg State University with Bachelors and Masters Degrees. Mary was a kind and compassionate teacher at Saint Mary's Catholic School, Mount Savage School, Eckhart Elementary School and Beall Elementary School. She retired from teaching special education at Beall Elementary School in December 1992.
Surviving are her children; Roy Victor DeVore and wife Sharon, William Joseph DeVore and wife Sheri, Theresa Ann Delaney and husband Terry, David Alan DeVore and wife Debbie, Robert Stephen DeVore and wife Nancy and Michael Colin DeVore and wife Karen; 14 grandchildren, Shawna Shipe and husband Nathan, Ashley Hoye and husband Josh, Ethan DeVore and wife Tara, Jennifer Rice and husband Eugene, Colin DeVore and wife Paloma, Garrett DeVore and Megan Payne, Janelle Dutery and husband Mike, Jonathan Lanni, Alyse DeVore, Shelby Hutcheson and husband Tyler, Noah DeVore, Roy DeVore, Jr. and wife Keleigh, Trevor DeVore and wife Jessie, Laura Wilson and husband Jordan; 20 great-grandchildren; her brother Jimmy Manley and wife Mary Catherine; her sister Patricia Powers and husband Jim; and sisters-in-law Eleanor DeVore Cannon and Hollace Manley.
Friends will be received at Durst Funeral Home in Frostburg, MD on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 from 6:00-8:00 p.m.
A Funeral Mass will be held at Divine Mercy Parish, 44 E. Main Street, Frostburg, MD on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. with Fr. Scott Kady officiating.
The family would like to express our gratitude to Goodwill Retirement Community for the great care and love they gave to our mother. Also, thanks to all the wonderful caregivers, especially Laura Spitznas, who have been supportive to our parents throughout their last years.
