Mary Baer, 96, passed away on January 22, 2018, at WMHS Nursing & Rehab Center, Frostburg.
Born on April 23, 1921, in Morantown, she was the daughter of the late George and Edith (Housel) Baker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph "Sam" Baer; brothers Gilbert, Richard, William, Bernard and Ralph Baker; sisters Isabel Lynch, Dorothy Whitehead and Goldie Sturtz.
Mary wed Sam in 1945 and moved to a farm in Finzel. Mary loved her farm. During the Winter, she often drove a snowmobile with Sam, riding along. The farm was a place of many happy gatherings, as friends and family were always welcome. Mary had been employed by Celanese Fibers Company, Sacred Heart Hospital, and had worked at Stoops Restaurant, in Frostburg. Mary enjoyed being on a bowling league, swimming at the YMCA, baking homemade desserts, attending church and doing any chore outdoors. She was dedicated to helping others and was a devoted caregiver. She was a friend to all animals; and especially loved cats. Mary was a member of Divine Mercy Parish, St. Michaels Catholic Church and faithfully believed the good Lord would take care of her, all the days of her life.
She is survived by many loving family members, including her very special sister-in-law, Jane Baker.
The family thanks WMHS Nursing & Rehab Center for their care, support and kindness.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Michaels Catholic Church, 44 E. Main Street, Frostburg, on Friday, January 26, 2018, at 11 am with Father Eric Gauchat, O.F.M. Cap, serving as celebrant. Interment of Christian burial will follow at Finzel Cemetary.
