Martha E. Luger, 106, passed away peacefully at her residence Wednesday, January 8, 2014. Born in New York City on July 3, 1907, she was the daughter of the late Conrad and Maria Vogel.
Martha was predeceased by her husband, Alexander F. Luger, and her brother Walter H. Vogel. She is survived by her son Richard and his wife Betty of Cumberland; her granddaughters, Nancy Jeffries and husband Randy of Euclid, Ohio, and Brenda Luger of Frostburg; and her great-grandson David Jeffries and wife Anna of Pataskala, Ohio.
Martha lived in Port Chester, New York, until moving to Cumberland in 1984. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Cumberland, and active in the church’s Sarah Circle and Highlanders. Martha also attended the Barrelville Presbyterian Church.
In accordance with her wishes, Martha was cremated. A memorial service will be held at the Barrelville Presbyterian Church on Sunday, January 19, 2014, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Thomas Morgan and the Rev. Caroline Kelly presiding.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Barrelville Presbyterian Church or the First Presbyterian Church, Cumberland.
