Mark Dunn

Mark Joseph Dunn, 62, passed away on November 20, 2022, unexpectedly at his residence. Born on June 9, 1960 in Frostburg, son of the late Wilda (Bolden) Dunn and Robert "Sonny" Dunn; he is preceded in death by his parents and his K-9 companions Sam and Cody.

Mark was a retired Plummer in the Maintenance Department at Western Correctional Institution. He was a member of Piney Mountain Sportsman Club and Big Savage Sportsman Club. He loved to hunt and was selected in the bear lottery, killed his first bruin, and had it mounted. His love of hunting created a special bond with his first great nephew, Carter, taking him under his wing teaching him to hunt. Mark was also a huge Dale Earnhardt Jr. NASCAR fan and enjoyed his Busch Light beer. He listened to 99.1 as he was spending time in his garage, or should we say his "man cave".

Mark was quick witted and always had a comeback for you. His compassion was often felt when he would pick out the best greeting cards and you truly knew how he felt. But the man could also be hardheaded as well. His gift of compassion allowed him to do anything for a neighbor, including opportunities to roundup their cows on numerous occasions.

Surviving Mark are his long time partner, Stacey Malone; brother, Denny and wife Debi Dunn; sisters, Cathy and husband Lawrence "Jinx" Layton, Lisa Neilson and Lorrie Dunn; numerous nieces and nephews, and Diamond, his K-9 companion.

Family and friends will be received at Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Avenue, Frostburg on Tuesday, November 22, 2022 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm with a service at 3 pm with Dr. John O'Rourke officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Allegany County Animal Shelter, 716 Furnace Street, Cumberland, MD 21502 or Eastern Garrett County Volunteer Fire Department, 401 Finzel Rd, Frostburg.
