Margaret “Ellen” Skidmore
89, of Eckhart Mines, died at Western Maryland Health Systems on Saturday, November 25, 2017 surrounded by her family.
Born July 27, 1928 in Gates, PA, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Mary Welsh. She was preceded in death by her husband Ellsworth Skidmore; daughter, Tina Lewis; grandchildren, Zachary and Christopher Huff; sisters, Mary Robinette and Catherine Purbaugh.
Ellen, as affectionately known by close family and friends, worked for the Frostburg Village Nursing Home for a majority of her life as well as providing home health care for numerous aging residents.
Ellen was a proud Military Spouse and Mother who gave loyally to our local Police and Fire Departments and St. Michaels every year.
Survivors include her beloved cat, Maxie; one brother, Robert Welsh and wife Helen: five children, Frederick Huff, James Huff, Paula Folk and husband Richard Folk, Paul Huff, John Huff and wife Mary Ann; grandchildren, Josh Huff and wife Jessica, Jamie Hansrote and fiancé William Held, Jeremiah Huff, Christopher Huff, Jennifer Huff, Tiffany Stair and husband Kristopher, Amy Huff; great grandchildren, Frances, Oliver, Daniel, Emma and Evan Huff. Special friends and caregivers include Brenda Athey, Laura Spitznas and Virginia Lattea.
Family and Friends will be received at Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Avenue, Frostburg on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 from 5 to 8 pm.
Funeral service will be held at Durst Funeral Home, Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at 10:00 am with Fr. Ed. Hendricks as celebrant.
Interment will be in Maryland State Veterans Cemetery.
