Margaret Elizabeth Bridges

February 20, 1931 — December 24, 2024

Mount Savage

With profound love and deep gratitude, we celebrate the life of Margaret Elizabeth Bridges, who passed away peacefully on December 24, 2024, at UPMC Cumberland, surrounded by love. Her 93 years were a blend of love, music, faith, and resilience.

Marg’s story began on February 20, 1931, in Hagerstown, MD, where she was born to Samuel and Bessie Bovey. At just eight years old, her heart was captured by the piano, igniting a passion that would shape her life and bring joy to all who heard her play.

Marg began her professional journey as a legal secretary at Reedy, Broadwater, Boublitz, where she worked as a dedicated employee for four years. Her life took an unexpected turn when she met George “Buck” Bridges, who needed his taxes done. This led to a love story that lasted a lifetime.

On June 7, 1958, Marg and Buck were married and made their home in Mount Savage, MD. Together, they raised their daughter, LeeAnn, and later extended their love to their grandson, Jeremy, who became a cornerstone of Marg’s life.

Marg’s family was her greatest treasure. Her joy extended to her grandson, Daniel (Ashlee), and her great-granddaughter, Madeleine, who brought her endless delight.

Marg had an adventurous spirit and loved to travel, often exploring new places with family and friends. Her travels were a source of pleasure, creating memories and experiences that she cherished throughout her life.

She generously gave her time volunteering at Mt. Savage School in the health room, where her warm and outgoing nature brought light and happiness to those around her, but her most profound journey began when her sister-in-law, Elsie Moore introduced her to Jehovah’s Witnesses. Deeply moved by the Bible’s teachings, Marg dedicated her life to Jehovah, symbolized by her baptism on July 11, 1969, at the “Peace on Earth” International Assembly. Her faith became her anchor, and her ministry brought her immeasurable joy as she shared her love for Jehovah with those around her. For decades, she played the piano at congregation meetings, which was a heartfelt expression of her love for Jehovah God and the friends. She also passed on her musical passion to Jeremy, sharing many cherished moments at the piano that deepened their bond.

In her later years, Jeremy became her devoted caregiver, a role he embraced with love and steadfast commitment. Their relationship, built on a lifetime of trust and affection, brought Marg comfort and joy as she faced the challenges of aging. So much so that her family and friends lovingly joked that she "only spoke Jeremy," a true reflection of their unique and enduring bond.

Marg was preceded in death by her beloved husband, George “Buck” Bridges; her parents, Samuel and Bessie Bovey; and her sister, Jo Ann Barnhart.

She leaves behind cherished memories with her daughter, LeeAnn Bridges; her son and grandson, Jeremy Bridges; her sister, Virginia Stenger; her grandson, Daniel Kearchner (Ashlee); her great-granddaughter, Madeleine Kearchner; loving relatives; and many spiritual brothers, sisters, children, and grandchildren.
