Lloyd L. Duncan, Jr., 80, of Frostburg, passed away February 15, 2018. Born May 5, 1937 in Frostburg, he was the only child of the late Lloyd L. Duncan, Sr. and Margaret (Whitehead) Duncan.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 51 years, Janet. He is survived by his sons Greg, of Frostburg; and Jason, of Baltimore; and his daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Rob West, of Springfield, Missouri.
Others surviving him whom he also held dear are his nieces and their husbands, Carol and Bill Felker, of Vale Summit, and Sherry and Charlie Croft, of Ridgeley, West Virginia.
He is also survived by his sweetheart, Brenda Crowe, of Frostburg; grandniece Jamie Felker, her partner, Charlie Lancaster, and their two sons, Chaz and Jace, of Vale Summit; grandniece Corrie Felker, of Vale Summit; grandniece Ricki Ann Moyer and her daughter Sophie, of LaVale; and grandnephew Michael Moyer, his wife Shannon, and their son Nolan, of Barton; as well as an endless number of adored cousins and friends.
Lloyd was a 1955 graduate of Beall High School and veteran of the United States Navy where he served on the U.S.S. Ingraham.
After his service in the U.S. Navy he found a lifelong career with the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 489 in Cumberland. He was known around the Local as “Dunc.” He retired in the late ‘90’s, but remained an active member, serving the organization for a total of 61 years.
Lloyd was an expert fly fisherman and was known around Piney Dam, New Germany and fishing holes throughout the region for his unique style of tying flies, guaranteed to catch fish. He was also known for his generosity in sharing his handmade tackle with just about anyone who asked.
A graveside service will be held on March 24 at 2 p.m. at Frostburg Memorial Park. All who knew and loved Lloyd are welcome to attend. Durst Funeral Home, Frostburg, is handling the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the C.A.S.T for Kids Foundation, a nonprofit organization that introduces special needs children to the joy of fishing.
