Larry “Beef” W. Miller, 74, passed away Saturday, January 5, 2019 at his residence.
He was born on November 3, 1944 in Mount Savage.
He is preceded in death by his mother Shirley (Miller) Smith and step-father Patrick Smith, in-laws Earl Gordon and Betty (McBee) Gordon, and his aunt and uncle who raised him, Edna and Edger Beaver.
Surviving are his loving wife of 49 ½ years, Sherry (Gordon) Miller; sister-in-law Gaylyn (Gordon) Wentz and husband Nate of Mt Joy, PA; brother-in-law John Gordon and wife Melinda of Mt Savage; numerous nephews and cousins. He was especially proud of Adam Wentz and wife Krista (Brandt) Wentz; Andrew Wentz and wife Jackie (Wonder) of Bolingbrook, IL; Douglas Preston of Carlisle, PA; Kenneth Preston and wife Karen Smith of Frostburg, and Rosalie (Preston) Gearhart; and great niece, Hazel Wentz.
Larry was the owner of Millers Garbage for numerous years. He enjoyed watching and playing softball and baseball that he traveled to many tournaments. Beef was an avid bowler until his stroke retired him from bowling. With the help of partner, Don Sisk they won the Miller Lite Tournament as the first team from Allegany County to represent MD in the tournament in Reno. He loved to travel and see old time music groups. Together with his wife they had the Wanderers DJ Service and played at car shows and weddings. He was a WV and Minnesota Vikings Fan.
The family would like to thank the Western Maryland Health System Hospice for the wonderful care and kindness through his illness. Especially aide Keri, Cari, RN and Carrie, RN; Chaplin Seth; his home nurse he had before hospice, Kimberly RN and aide Lisa as well as everyone who called to check on Beef.
Family and friends will be received at Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Ave, Frostburg, MD, on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 from 4 to 6 P.M. with the services following at 6:00 with Rev. George Harpold.
In accordance with his wishes, Beef will be cremated following his service.
