Kenneth E. Shaffer, 71, of Mt. Savage, passed away on Sunday, February 5, 2017, at Ruby Medical Center, Morgantown, WV.

Born on July 21, 1945 in Cumberland, to Helen E. (Morgan) Blank and the late James W. Shaffer.

Kenneth was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War and retired from T.W.R. after 35 years serving as the Senior Vice President. He was a member of the Piney Mountain Sportsman Club in Kennels Mill, Barrelville Outdoor Club, Old Rail Post #6025, and Methodist by faith. Kenneth enjoyed hunting and fishing with his buddies, Jim Carter and Leo Mills.

In addition to his mother, Kenneth is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Cathy (Van Fleet) Shaffer; two sons, Jimmy Shaffer and wife Linda, Winchester, VA, Keith Shaffer and wife Molly, Elkins, WV; two daughters, Jennifer Wright McKenzie, Mt. Savage, Kelly Wright and Matt Nelson, Ocean City, MD; six grandchildren, Raegan McKenzie, Evan McKenzie, Dustin Shaffer, Lanaya Shaffer, Heather Buhl, Holly Buhl; one great grandchild, Dewayne Shaffer; sister, Barbara Reagan Emerick, Hyndman, PA; brother-in-laws, Herb Van Fleet and wife Dee, Richmond, VA, Mike Van Fleet, Ocean City, MD, Brian Van Fleet and partner Joe, Washington D.C.; his canine buddy, Raevan. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Family and friends will be received at Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Ave, Frostburg, MD, on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M.

Funeral service will be held at Durst Funeral Home on Thursday, February, 9, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. George Harpold officiating.

Interment will be held at Mt. Savage Methodist Cemetery.
