John Thomas McKenzie

John Thomas McKenzie, 81, of Laurel, Maryland passed away on Thursday April 14, 2022 at Adventist Health Care White Oak Medical Center.

 

Born September 24, 1940 in Finzel, Maryland. John was the son of the late Thomas Franklin and Helen Lucinda (Caton) McKenzie.

 

He was also preceded in death by his spouse, Linda June (Blair) McKenzie and brother, Bernard Francis McKenzie and his wife Carol Jean (Baer) McKenzie and nephews, Gary Francis and Richard Lee McKenzie.

 

John graduated from Northern High School in 1958. He retired from the Department of Agriculture. He loved hunting, fishing and camping with family and friends.

 

He is survived by his daughters Angela Marie McKenzie and Teresa Ann Spione and husband (Daniel), grandchildren Dennis Charles (Ebony) Jazwinski Jr. ,and Joshua Thomas McKenzie. He is also survived by brothers Paul (Mary), Harold (Beverly), Larry (Frances), Dale (Gail), Charlie (Lynne), and David (Deb) and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

John was cremated in accordance with his wishes. 

 

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at the Zion United Church of Christ,  160 E Main Street, Frostburg, MD at 11am. Chris Skidmore will be officiating. Following the service a luncheon will be held in the church basement.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in John’s name to the Zion UCC, 160 E Main Street, Frostburg, MD. 21532.
