Joan Witt

Joan Yvonne (Develbiss) Witt, 82, of Mt. Savage, passed away Monday, December 6, 2021, at UPMC Western Maryland.

Born on January 13, 1939, in Westernport, MD. She was the daughter of the late Curtis and Violet Develbiss. Joan was also preceded in death by her daughter Jeannine Seekamp, her brother, Charles “Bo” Develbiss and her sister, Patricia “Patti” (Develbiss) Cochran.

Joan or “Maw”, as she was affectionately called, loved spending time with her family and especially enjoyed decorating her house for the annual Christmas gathering. Everyone was always welcome at the Witt house. Friends quickly became extended family. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.

Joan is survived by her husband of 65 years, Donald C. Witt, Mt. Savage, two sons, Jeffrey Witt, Mt. Savage, and Dean Witt and partner Barbara, Mt. Savage, her daughter Denise Kroll and husband Wesley, Frostburg; one brother, Curtis “Jr.” Develbiss and wife Norma, FL. Special surrogate “daughter” Melissa Witt and family.

She also leaves behind 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren that she loved with all her heart. Grandchildren: Adam Lewis and family, Justin Lewis and family, Douglas Robey and family, Autumn Green and family, Jeremy Jenkins, Jessyca Kimble and family, Christopher Loar, Hannah Kroll, Emily Kroll, Emery Kroll and Alissa Kroll.

A private family gathering will be held at Durst Funeral Home.
