Jean Lloyd

Jean Avoline Lloyd, 89, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 4. 2020, at her home.

Born on June 21, 1930, in Hyndman, PA, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Mary (Wambaugh) Fitchner.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Glenn “Doc” Lloyd; her brothers, Ray, Harry Jr. and Roy Fichtner; and a sister, Hazel Bush. Jean is the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Jean retired as an office clerk for the G. C. Murphy’s Department Store.  She was a life-long member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Frostburg where she served in many positions.

Surviving are sister-in-law Erma Robertson; nephew Raymond Browning, Jr., Hurricane, WV; numerous nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received at Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Ave, Frostburg, MD, on Saturday, February 8, 2020, from 11 am to 1 pm.

Funeral services will follow at 1 pm with Rev. Karen Crosby and Pastor Darrell Layman.

Interment will be in the Maryland Veterans Cemetery at Rocky Gap.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations, in Jean’s name, be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 227, Frostburg, MD 21532.

The family extends a heartfelt thank you for the excellent care given to Mrs. Lloyd by her caregivers, Shawna Peck, Mike Duncan, Linda Shockey and Vicki Logsdon.
