James Lewis Minick, 88, of Frostburg, passed away on Sunday, September 8, 2019, at the WMHS Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Born on March 27, 1931 in Finzel, to the late Arvel L. and Mary D. Minick.
Mr. Minick is a U.S. Marine veteran and a member of Divine Mercy St. Michael Parish and a member of Farrady Post 24 American Legion. James was a 1959 graduate of Frostburg State University where he also earned his Master’s Degree in Education in 1966. He served as a mathematics and science teacher at Allegany High School and Braddock Junior High School.
Surviving are his wife of 66 years, Anna Marie (Joyce) Minick; daughter, Debra Franklin and husband John, Lutherville, MD; son, Christopher J. Minick and wife Lisa, Lutherville, MD; three grandchildren; sisters, Mary Margaret Shockey, Johnstown, PA, Lillian Kontezka, Bloomington, IN, Cecelia Sandifer, Culpepper, VA, Virginia Hostetler, Finzel, MD, Rose Marie Hutzel, Meyersdale, PA, Judith Hummel, Herbana, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews.
James was cremated in accordance with his wishes.
A Funeral Mass will be held at Divine Mercy Parish St. Michaels Catholic Church, Frostburg, on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at 11 am with Fr. Doug Kenney as celebrant. Friends and family will be received one hour prior to the service from 10 to 11 am.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in, “Jim’s honor” to a charity of their choice.
