Jacquelyn Ann Cross Walker Shirley, died February 19th at the home of her daughter and caretaker, Erin Dixon.
Born in Cumberland on December 9, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Shepp and Marylee Cross. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband and caretaker for 19 years, Mike Shirley; her first husband, Rick Walker; son Ricky Walker; and a sister Glenna Brode.
Jacquie was a Registered Nurse and held various positions in the area. She retired from the Frostburg Nursing Home after suffering a stroke. She struggled with health problems after that, but never gave up or lost her sense of humor. She enjoyed camping, fishing, playing cards and gambling. Her favorite place to go was Rocky Gap.
Surviving are her daughter, Erin Walker Dixon and husband Terry, Eckhart; her son, Glenn Walker and wife Reńee, Frostburg; son in law, Jim Shirley and wife Rhonda, Finzel; brother, Glenn Cross and wife Cathy, Hagerstown; sister, Susan Long, Oldtown; grandchildren, Rick Henry, Nick Walker, Zak Lee, Maura and Julia Shirley; great-granddaughter, Hannah Henry; and numerous nieces, nephews and dog guardians, Tucker and Kira.
Per Jacquie’s request, she will be cremated. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
The family would like to thank the hospice unit for all their support and care.
