Irvin Ziler

Irvin “Buck” Ziler

82, passed peacefully at home on Thursday, March 5, 2020, from COPD and Diabetes.

Born on July 8, 1937 in Carlos, to the late James Howard and Marie (Wilson) Ziler.  In addition to his parents; he is preceded by two sisters, Rose Keller and Kathleen Jenkins.

Irvin was of Methodist Faith and was baptized at Woodland Methodist Church when he was 13 years of age.  He attended Beall High School, and had previously been employed by Ted Femi, Elmer Cessna and Bennett Construction as a bricklayer, helping to build many homes in the tristate area.  He also worked for Jim Stanley, Heating and Cooling.

Buck especially enjoyed his family, making crafts in his workshop, especially wooden crosses which he gave away.  His Crosses have been sent all over the world including the Christmas Child Shoeboxes and Guatemala. He enjoyed feeding and watching the birds.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Mary (Russell) Ziler whom he married on November 25, 1961; two sons, Irvin Wayne Ziler and wife Sherri, McCoole, MD, Bobby James Ziler and wife Georgi, Frostburg; four grandchildren, David Ziler and wife Andrea, Rawlings, Amanda Preston and husband Kevin, Grantsville, Lindsey Wagner and husband Josh, Rawlings, and Tara Ziler and fiancé Nathan Huff, Frostburg; seven great grandchildren, Adalyn Preston, Elijah and Aubree Ziler, Wyatt Wagner, Chaz Sloan and Karli and Matthew Huff; plus one on the way; sister, Helen McKinley, Frostburg; brother, Stanley Ziler, Frostburg; sister in laws, Rita (Ron) Fidler, Frostburg and Jeanne (Ron) Smith, Frostburg and several nieces and nephews.

He will be greatly missed by his wife and family.

The family wishes to give special thanks to Dr. Khanna and staff, Dr. Sprenkle and staff, Pharmacare of Cumberland, the Western Maryland Medical Supply staff, American Home Patient, LinCare Oxygen Service staff, and UPMC Western Maryland Hospice for their wonderful loving care. A special thanks to his brother, Stanley, sister, Helen and Les Cutter, our neighbor for their visits which he enjoyed.

Family and friends will be received at Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Avenue, Frostburg, on Sunday, March 8, 2020 from 5 to 8 pm.

A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, March 9, 2020 at 11:00 am with Pastor David Ziler officiating.

Interment will follow in Frostburg Memorial Park.
