Helen Drees ,of Finzel, passed peacefully at Sterling Care Frostburg Village on October 10, 2024, at the age of 97. Helen was born on February 26, 1927, in Frostburg.
Helen is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Franklin Drees; parents, George and Elsie (LaRue) Clark; and siblings, Martha Robeson, Brenda Renney, Florence Rizer, Alice Spataro, and Virginia Arnone. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Helen Leaves behind four children; two sons, Junior Drees and wife Dolly, Bernard Drees and wife Kimberly; two daughters, Deborah Green and husband Kenneth, Bonnie Robeson and husband John; 17 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Helen was a devout Catholic and a member of Divine Mercy, St. Michaels Catholic Church. She was also member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.
During her life she worked numerous jobs and had various hobbies. She was an avid football fan, really missing a Baltimore Ravens game. She took great pride in her lawn, always making sure every blade of grass was perfect grass. Helen mowed her grass until her health stopped her. In her younger years, she enjoyed a game of cards with family and friends and going dancing with her husband, buddy. She was a loving mom and grandma.
At Helen’s request she is to be cremated, and a mass of Christian Burial will be held at Divine Mercy, St. Michaels Catholic Church, 44 E. Main Street, Frostburg, on Monday, October 21, 2024, at 11 AM, with Fa. Scott Kady as celebrant.
Inurnment will follow in Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Flintstone, MD.
