George M. Bishields, Jr.

George Michael Bishields Jr., 85, of Frostburg, passed away on Friday, January 26, 2024 at Western Maryland Regional Medical Center. 

 Born December 15, 1938, he was the son of the late George and Ruth (Carder) Bishields, Sr. In addition to his parents, he is preceded by his wife of 44 years, Sandra Jean, who passed three months prior.

 Mr. Bishields was a graduate of Mt. Savage High School, Shepherd University, and received his Master’s degree at WVU. He was a teacher in Allegany County School System; coached at Mt. Savage in soccer, basketball, and baseball for many years.

 Surviving are his sister, Donna Turner and husband Robert, brother, Joseph Bishield; children,  Craig Lohnas and wife Stacey of Berlin, MD, Mary Jane Fischer and husband Scott of Warner Robins, GA, and John Lohnas and wife Laurie of Frostburg, MD. Grandchildren; Christy Purnell, Cobin Lohnas, Colton Lohnas, Byron Beauchamp, Mckenzie Peterson, Brooke Beauchamp, Amber Fischer, Jade Bradshaw, Garrett Fischer, Canyon Lohnas, and Tanner Lohnas; Great Grandchildren, Carter Lohnas, Brody Purnell, and Paisley Beauchamps.

 George was cremated in accordance with his wishes. Services will be private.
