Mrs. Genevieve "Genny" (Lewis) Yonker, of Winchester Road, died on January 28, 2025, at UMPC Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.
Born October 8, 1933 in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Leroy Lewis and Mable L. (Evick) Lewis. Also, Preceding her in death was her husband Robert "Bob" E. Yonker, Sr., son, Robert E. Yonker Jr., and grandchild, Jason Yonker.
Mrs. Yonker was a member of the Centre Street United Methodist Church, Church Choir, Methodist Women's Club. Past President Cresaptown Aux. #2983 Eagles, Phythian Sisters, Daughters of the Nile, Notable Organ Club, Shieks & Shiela's Widow Club/Shrine. She also volunteers at the St. Vincent DePaul Nursing Home as an Organist. Mrs. Yonker played the organ for the Former Crystal Park Roller Rink and she was part owner and manager Hi Lan Roller Rink with her deceased husband. She retired as Office Manager of Moore's Bldg. Supply.
Surviving is son: William Rutledge Yonker, Mt. Airy and two daughters: Sharon Elaine Yonker, Frostburg and Marsha Ellen and husband, William Messink of Westminster, her grandchildren: Brandy Reece and husband, Brandon, Rutledge "Rudy" Yonker, Macon Jones, Taryn Bradley and husband Jarrod, Amanda Frankenberry and husband Matthew and Jennifer Yonker, and seventeen great grandchildren. Also surviving are her two sisters Nancy A. Schwartz and Rita M. Tepper and a brother, Allan L. Lewis.
Family and friends will be received at Durst Funeral Home, Frostburg on Monday, February 3, 2025 from 11:00 to Noon; the service will follow at noon with Pastor Ann Atkins officiating.
