Frank Gaughan

65, formerly of Mt. Savage, passed away on Tuesday, August 22, 2017, at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.

Born on March 11, 1952, in Frostburg, he was the son of the late James P. and Betty Jane (Brown) Gaughan.

In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by his brothers, Timothy and Henry Gaughan.

Frank attended Thomas G. Pullen School in Frostburg, in the Special Education Program.  He was a lifelong client of Friends Aware and was a 25 year resident of the Friends Aware group home on Furnace Street in Cumberland.  Frank was a member of Boy Scout Troop 89 and enjoyed bowling in a Tuesday League.  He was a Special Olympics Champion and a member of the People First Community Group.

He loved the Baltimore Orioles and you could always find him in his Orioles hat with a cup of coffee in his hand and a pack of baseball cards in his pocket.

Frank was a loving soul and always had a smile and a laugh.  He was a member of Our Lady of the Mountains St. Patrick’s Parish in Mount Savage

Surviving are his brothers, William Gaughan, Richard Gaughan and wife Bonnie, George Gaughan, John Gaughan and wife Debra, Stephen Gaughan and wife Brenda, Anthony Gaughan, Christopher Gaughan and wife Patti, Michael Gaughan and wife Kathie, Peter Gaughan and wife Melody; sisters, Barbara DeMoss and husband Robert, Mary Jane Werner and husband Larry, Kateri Dawson and husband Matthew, Teresa Bishop, Rose Marie O’Brien and husband Pete, and Anne Fox; numerous loving nieces, nephews and extended family at Friends Aware.

Family and friends will be received at Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Avenue, Frostburg, MD, on Thursday, August 24, 2017, from 3-8 pm.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick’s in Mt. Savage on Friday, August 25, 2017, at 10:30 am with Father Eric Gauchat serving as celebrant.

Interment will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Mt. Savage.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations, in Mr. Gaughan’s name, be made to Friends Aware, 1601 Holland Street, Cumberland, MD 21502
