Evelyn F. Filer

 Evelyn Filer, 91, passed away on Wednesday, February, 14, 2024 at UPMC Western MD

Born on July 29, 1932 to the late Margaret (McGregor) and Carl F. Brode. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, William A. Filer; daughter, Crystal Ogden; granddaughter, Lauren Filer; and a son in law Duane Helmick.

Evelyn loved spending time with her family, in her garden, decorating and painting.  She was an accomplished artist, having painted a mural at Eckhart School of, Winnie the Pooh.   

Surviving are her daughter, Deborah Helmick; son, William F. Filer and wife Anna; grandchildren, David Ogden and wife Catrina, Brandi Mindyas and husband Ryan, Donavon Helmick and wife Ruth, Cagney Helmick, Mikayla Filer, Evan Filer and Catherine Filer; great grandchildren, Gabriella, Caiden, Rose, William, Lauren, Lochlan, and Rhys; cousin and friend, Karen Hook.

Family and friends will be received at Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Avenue, Frostburg, MD on Saturday, February 17, 2024 from 1 to 2 pm. Services will follow at 2 pm with Rev. George Harpold officiating.

Interment will be at Rocky Gap Veterans Cemetery alongside her late husband at a later date.
