99, of Frostburg died Monday March 17, 2014 at Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.
Born January 19, 1915 in Frostburg to Sam LaManna and Emma (Ruffo) LaManna. She is proceeded in death by her parents, husband, Julius “Hugo” Lenkey and a brother, William “Millie” LaManna, and sister, Francis Watson, and was the last of her immediate family.
For over 30 years Mrs. Lenkey and her husband Hugo, resided in New Brunswick, NJ, where she retired from the IRS in 1971 with over 35 years of service. They returned to Frostburg in 1980 and were members of St. Michaels Catholic Church, Frostburg. Ellen and Hugo, “Dear and Dear”, enjoyed traveling, especially back to Atlantic City, NJ where they are fondly remembered by the many friends and associates they made there.
Surviving are one nephew, Sam LaManna and wife Darlene, Frostburg; two nieces, Carol Gray and husband Milt, the Villages, FL, Jeanne Watson Smith and husband Kirby, Kennett Square, PA. One great niece, Gina LaManna, Frostburg; and two great-nephews, Carl Watson Smith, graduate student at Virginia Tech, and Robinson Watson Smith, U.S. Army, Fort Drum. Aunt Ellen was also blessed with numerous cousins from the Ruffo and Peretti families, including three other “nieces”, Carol Lenkey, NC, Vanessa Walker and Shera Chandler, Frostburg.
