Elizabeth “Betty” Virginia Mills , 93, passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2019, at Sterling Care Nursing Home in Frostburg.
Born on April 3, 1926, in Frostburg, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Julia (Givigliano) Taccino.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death her husband Joseph “Joe” Mills; brothers, Michael, James and William Taccino; and sisters, Ferine Pifalo, Emma Montana, Genevieve Scarpelli and Marguerite Warne.
She grew up in Frostburg where she graduated from Beall High School.
Betty met her husband, Joe, on a blind date at the Oriole Club in Midland with Harry and Mary (Russell) Devlin. They eventually married on July 29, 1950, and remained married for the next 68 years until Joe’s passing last year.
Betty raced cars in her youth. She was quite boastful of her TR3 racing trophies and did not hesitate to tell you she was the best driver in Frostburg. She even mentioned this to local law enforcement when pulled over on occasion. Later in her life, she spent much of her free time going to bingo in various communities. Between bingo, playing the jugs and hitting the casinos, she enjoyed gambling and playing cards. Betty also enjoyed cooking and baking, especially Italian dishes. As a result, holidays and special gatherings were always cherished by Betty whether it involved the extended Mills and Taccino families or the Devlin clan. She had a unique personality and a heart of gold. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Surviving are daughter, Kristin Mills Brault and husband Mark; grandsons, Mitchell and Austin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank all of the employees at the Sterling Care Nursing Home for their care provided to Betty and Joe Mills.
