Elizabeth Jones

February 13, 1941 — August 20, 2013

Elizabeth, aka “Beth” aka “Little Lamb” age 72, passed away at her home on August 20, 2013.  Born in Mt. Savage, MD on February 13, 1941, she was the daughter of George Henry Elliott and Evelyn “Cubby” Cuthbertson Elliott. She is survived by her adored children, Janice Long, Jeffrey Marshall Jones and Jill Jones Clark. Also left to cherish her memory are her brother and his wife, Francis “Butch” and Corky Elliott. She will be missed by her sisters, “the twins” Darlene “Dee” Etheridge and Geraldine “Gerri” Raley and Gerri’s husband Gene. She was a kind, beloved grandmother to James D. Clark, Jr., Carolina Long, Virginia Long and Dakota Long. She was also a dear, beloved aunt to Kenny Elliott and his departed sister Roxanne, Amy Dirks, Karen Shriver, Greg Williams, John Tynes, Tiffany McCann, as well as, Mark Lannon, Stephanie Wivell, Dean Layman, Erin Dingle, Teri Palmer, Brent Kooken, Karen Eberly, Brian Kooken, Brooke Silard, Kelsey Bates, Kendra Yang, and Robyn Hill.  Elizabeth was the former wife of Jesse Marshall “Butch” Jones, and sister-in-law to Brenda and Brownlee Kooken, Elma Layman, JoRetha Scouten, and Neil Jones.

Elizabeth grew up in the town of Frostburg, MD.  She attended Beall High School, where she was chosen to represent her school as a “Mountaineer Princess.”  While in high school, she worked at Charlie Hill’s Candy Shop and went to dances at the Firehall where she met her beloved, Butch, and they danced to her favorite Elvis songs.

A very kind soul, Elizabeth loved her Scottish heritage and shared this love with her extended family.  She was a “mega fan” of Scottish folksinger, Carl Peterson, whose music she enjoyed at the many Scottish festivals she attended. Elizabeth’s favorite color was plaid, especially the Elliott tartan.  She visited Scotland which was a dream come true for her.

A talented seamstress, Elizabeth made some of her own clothes, as well as her children’s clothes as they were growing up.  Family babies were sewn their own first kilt by her. A wonderful cook, she put together a family cookbook with her own recipes named after her beloved children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  She loved entertaining all the children with many holiday traditions and put on the best “dern” Easter egg treasure hunt imaginable.

Elizabeth was a true cat lover and throughout her lifetime enjoyed the company of her treasured feline companion.  These cats have included Susie, Caesar, Highland Piper, Martha Stewart, Piper, McGruffy, Wee Lassie, and Love Bug.  Some of these cats even shared her same hair color, Loving Care #76 !

Elizabeth was one of a kind, and one of the nicest people anyone could ever meet.  Her giggle was the best sound in any room and we will miss hearing her sweet voice. She will be dearly missed by all her family and friends.
